A Central Limit Theorem and Higher Order Results for the Angular Bispectrum

چکیده

The angular bispectrum of spherical random fields has recently gained an enormous importance, especially in connection with statistical inference on cosmological data. In this paper, we provide expressions for its moments of arbitrary order and we use these results to establish a multivariate central limit theorem and higher order approximations. The results rely upon combinatorial methods from graph theory and a detailed investigation for the asymptotic behaviour of Clebsch-Gordan coefficients; the latter are widely used in representation theory and quantum theory of angular momentum. • AMS 2000 Classification: Primary 60G60; Secondary 60F05, 62M15, 62M40 •

The Local Limit Theorem: A Historical Perspective

The local limit theorem describes how the density of a sum of random variables follows the normal curve. However the local limit theorem is often seen as a curiosity of no particular importance when compared with the central limit theorem. Nevertheless the local limit theorem came first and is in fact associated with the foundation of probability theory by Blaise Pascal and Pierre de Fer...

Sachs-Wolfe at second order: the CMB bispectrum on large angular scales

We calculate the Cosmic Microwave Background anisotropy bispectrum on large angular scales in the absence of primordial non-Gaussianities, assuming exact matter dominance and extending at second order the classic Sachs-Wolfe result δT/T = Φ/3. The calculation is done in Poisson gauge. Besides intrinsic contributions calculated at last scattering, one must consider integrated effects. These are ...

The needlets bispectrum

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to join two different threads of the recent literature on random fields on the sphere, namely the statistical analysis of higher order angular power spectra on one hand, and the construction of second-generation wavelets on the sphere on the other. To this aim, we introduce the needlets bispectrum and we derive a number of convergence results. Here, the li...

Central Limit Theorem in Multitype Branching Random Walk

A discrete time multitype (p-type) branching random walk on the real line R is considered. The positions of the j-type individuals in the n-th generation form a point process. The asymptotic behavior of these point processes, when the generation size tends to infinity, is studied. The central limit theorem is proved.
